Resolving Nepal-India Border Problems: An Assessment of Diplomatic Efforts
Abstract: Nepal-India relations mark as unique and matchless to any other bilateral ties in the world. The geographic accessibility, ethno-cultural and religious affinities, and many other multidimensional causes have ascertained this fact. Despites, the economic, geostrategic and regional factors also are some of the elements behind it. Among them, economic elements, as the crucial parts of bilateral ties which are based on the infrastructural development on airports, irrigation, agriculture, roads, power projects, industrial estates, communication, surveys, forestry, building construction for health, education, human resource development among others have principally played significant role between them. As early as India gained its independence, Nepal established diplomatic relation with it.
Thenceforth, both the nations rejoice warm bonds with mutual respect to the sovereignty, territorial integrity, national unity and the goals and feelings of their peoples for reciprocal socio-political harmony between them. Both of these nations have cultivated their inextricable ties through the ages in varied facets. The open border between Nepal and India have not just allowed the people from both sides going to each other’s territory as a part of their geographical compulsions.
